DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 3. Tajikistan is planning to develop a Road Asset Management System (RAMS) as part of the second component of the Fourth Phase of the Central Asia Regional Links Program (CARs-4), a World Bank project, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, the information was disclosed during a meeting between the Minister of Transport of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, and the World Bank Mission Group.
Collaborative efforts from donors are essential for the implementation of RAMS. To further its efforts in this field, the Ministry of Transport is planning to establish a digital RAMS database for the purpose of registering, storing, and analyzing data pertaining to the nation's highways. The international firm Corporate Solutions has already completed the RAMS development tender paperwork.
Additionally, the Ministry noted that progress is underway on planned activities within the first components of the CARs-4 project in the Sughd region and two construction sites in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). The WB's program includes visits to these areas, allowing participants to monitor the progress of road reconstruction.
The primary objective of the CARs-4 in Tajikistan is to facilitate safer and smoother cross-border trade in the Sughd and GBAO regions. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and strengthen economic ties among Central Asian nations along the Silk Route. The project comprises five key components aimed at achieving these objectives. Total project funding is $132 million.
