DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 7. The number of officially registered unemployed individuals in Tajikistan stood at 49,300 people at the end of June 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan shows that this figure decreased by 0.5 percent compared to June 2023.
Women constituted 48.7 percent (about 24,000 people) of the total number of unemployed citizens in Tajikistan. The officially registered unemployment rate, relative to the workforce, is estimated at 1.8 percent.
Authorities attribute the decline in unemployment at the end of June 2024 to people without professional training or those who have lost their qualifications due to an extended career break.
They represent 76.6 percent of the total number of registered unemployed in Tajikistan, which amounts to 37,800 people. Furthermore, about 60.2 percent of the registered unemployed have secondary general or incomplete secondary education, totaling 29,700 people.
To note, 98.2 percent of Tajikistan's population is officially employed, totaling 2.631 million people.
