TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 27. Uzbekistan’s total renewable energy capacity amounted to 2,668 MW in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the report prepared by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), renewable energy capacity in the country over the reporting period grew by 190 MW year-on-year (2,478 MW in 2022).
The overall renewable energy capacity increased by 756 MW in the last five years (1,912 MW in 2019), while the capacity amounted to 2,025 MW in 2020 and 2,156 MW in 2021.
In addition, Uzbekistan's share of renewable energy reached 14.9 percent in 2023.
Meanwhile, according to IRENA, in 2023, the power sector saw a record-breaking expansion of renewable energy, reaching a total capacity of 3,870 GW worldwide.
Renewables made up 86 percent of the new capacity added. However, this growth isn't evenly spread across the globe, suggesting we're still far from reaching the goal of tripling renewable power by 2030.
