TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 14. Uzbekistan's trade turnover with Afghanistan totaled $668 million from January through August 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan indicated that this figure increased by 22.8 percent compared to the same period in 2023, when the trade turnover was $543.6 million.
Afghanistan has found itself in the upper echelons, landing a spot among the top ten countries when it comes to Uzbekistan's foreign economic turnover during this stretch of time.
Total exports to Afghanistan from Uzbekistan amounted to $646.8 million; this figure increased by 20.2 percent year-on-year ($537.7 million from January through August 2023).
Uzbekistan's imports from Afghanistan reached $21.3 million from January through August 2024. This figure increased by 261 percent compared to the same period last year ($5.9 million from January through August 2023).
Uzbekistan's total trade turnover amounted to $42.7 billion from January through August 2024. This indicator increased by 6.7 percent compared to the same period last year ($40 billion from January through August 2023).
The country's exports reached $17.3 billion from January through August 2024, while imports totaled $25.3 billion.
