Terrorist operations outside the Imam Hossein Mosque in the southeastern city of Chabahar in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province killed tens of people mourning on the martyrdom anniversary of the third Imam of Shiites, the IRNA news agency reported.
Sistan and Baluchestan province head Ali Mohammadazade said the death toll has hit 38 people, including a woman and a three-month-old baby. Fifty-five have been wounded, IRINN reported earlier.
He added that one suicide bomber died in the explosion and the second was killed while trying to escape, refuting previously released information that a bomber had been arrested.
Iranian Ambulance Service head Gulam Reza Masumi said hospitals throughout southeastern Iran are ready to provide medical care, the ISNA said.
According to a Dubai Al-Arabiya TV channel, the "Jundullah" group took responsibility for the attack, committing it in response to this group's leader Abdolmalek Rigi's death.
