Iranian president: Expansion of relations with neighbors on agenda of new government

The expansion of relations with the neighboring countries is on agenda of the government, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said in presence of media outlets, Press TV reported live.

Rouhani was answeing the question regarding Iran's improvement of relations with the Arab countries.

This is the first official press conference of Hassan Rouhani, since he was elected and inaugurated as the new president of Iran.

"This is a priority issue for the future government. There will be an effort made to bring quality and stability to the region, with the help of friendly nations," Rouhani noted.

The president further said that in the meetings that Iran held with officials of other countries of the region, one point that was unerlined is that Iran could play a more active role for stability and development of the region.

On 14 June 2013, Hassan Rouhani won the presidential elections in Iran, gathering over 50 percent of total votes.

Rouhani previously said that he will work towards the removal of western sanctions, adding that his government will adopt moderate policies and actions.
