Iran boosts extraction at South Azadegan oil field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. The production at the South Azadegan oil field, which is a common oil field of Iran and Iraq, has increased by 3,000 barrels per day over the past month, Trend reports via PetroPars.

Meanwhile, it is announced that three new wells were put into operation at the South Azadegan oil field during the mentioned period.

The number of wells commissioned by PetroPars in the South Azadegan oil field increased to 24, and the production potential increased to 28,900 barrels per day with the commissioning of these three wells.

The production of crude oil at the South Azadegan field previously amounted to 170,000 barrels per day.

Note that the South Azadegan oil field contains 28.2 billion barrels of crude oil, of which 1.6 billion barrels are reportedly possible to produce. According to the plans related to the development of this field, the first plan envisages daily production of 320,000 barrels of crude oil and 197 million cubic feet (about 7 million cubic meters) of natural gas from the field, while the second plan envisages daily production of 280,000 barrels of crude oil.
