By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Issues of Georgian government's investment policy were discussed by Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili and Lukoil CEO, Vagit Alekperov in Swiss city of Davos.

The sides emphasized the importance of foreign direct investments for development of Georgia's economy, the prime minister's press service told Trend on Thursday.

Garibashvili said that Georgian government's priorities have been defined.

"We welcome reliable companies in the Georgian market, especially in the area of logistics," he said.

Following the meeting, Vagit Alekperov told Georgian journalists that Lukoil might be interested in production of electricity in Georgia and construction of a water power plant there.

"We are ready to consider this issue and if we see the benefits we will be engaged in this," he said.

Alekperov said Lukoil is now dealing with the issue of constructing an oil refinery in Georgia, as well as benefiting from Georgia as a transit country for transportation of petroleum products.

Other details of the meeting are not reported.
