The Syrian government forces and the allied militia regained control over the entire north-eastern part of the city of Aleppo, a militia source told RIA Novosti on Tuesday, Sputnik reported.

"The army and the militia managed to regain control over the districts of Sheikh Khodr and Sheikh Fares. Thus, we can say that the north-eastern part of Aleppo is completely under the control of the Syrian army," the source said.

Thousands of civilians have been trapped in Aleppo for months, without access to food, water, electricity or medical assistance as Syrian government troops and rebel forces continue to fight for its control.
