The volcanic ash cloud from Iceland at present poses no serious health threat to people in Europe, a World Health Organization officials said Tuesday, DPA reported.
The most urgent impact on health would be in the direct vicinity of the volcano in Iceland, said Carlos Dora, a public health expert with WHO.
Speaking with reporters in Geneva, Dora said no dangerous pollution had reached ground level in Europe.
If the ash did fall to lower levels it would mostly pose a threat to people with respiratory problems.
At the moment, the WHO was not issuing any health warnings.
