The inclusion of the mugham in Azerbaijan's song at Eurovision 2012 was an unexpected decision, a known mugham singer, Alim Gasimov, who will perform at the contest, along with Sabina Babayeva with the song "When the Music Dies", told Trend on Wednesday.
"I was not expecting this. This is the fate of mugham," Gasimov said.
He noted that mugham sounds in two parts of the song "When the Music Dies". "In the disk version of the song mugham sounds with a low tone. But during live performance I will make a tone above," he said.
Mugham singer, speaking about the duet with Sabina Babayeva, noted that the representative of Azerbaijan is aware of many musical genres, as well as jazz, and has excellent hear.
Alim Gasimov said that rehearsal of non-contest performance of mugham is over, rehearsals with Sabina Babayeva will begin from May 17.
The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Baku Crystal Hall near State Flag Square. The semi-finals will be held in Baku on May 22 and May 24 and the final on May 26. The logo for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is 'Fire Flower', while the motto is Light your fire.
Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf, Germany last May.
