Iranian navy forces have escorted about 1,000 oil tankers and ships in the Eden Gulf, Indian Ocean, and the Red Sea, Fars News Agnecy reported quoting Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari as saying.
"Iran dispatched naval forces to regional deep waters in 2008. The forces have constantly existed in free waters since 2009", said Sayyari.
Iran has sent 15 navies to free waters, while the mission of Naves 12 and 14 was very important. The two were dispatched to the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean with the aid of the Yunus submarine to protect the ships from pirates.
Iran has 2,800 km of blue water - 800 km in the north and 2,000 km in the southern country.
