ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 15. Direct investments from Luxembourg to Kazakhstan have reached $2.9 billion since 2005, said Murat Nurtleu, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trend reports.
He made the remark as he met Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel.
During a recent official visit to Luxembourg, Nurtleu underscored Luxembourg's significance as a key partner for Kazakhstan within the European Union.
The talks focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation and highlighted promising sectors for collaboration, including financial technologies, sustainable development through green energy, pharmaceuticals, and transportation infrastructure projects. Both sides emphasized the need to strengthen economic ties and create more opportunities for their business communities.
Prime Minister Frieden remarked that Luxembourg views Kazakhstan as a reliable partner in Central Asia, citing the significant potential for business collaboration. He expressed Luxembourg's readiness to assist Kazakhstan in modernizing key economic sectors and adopting advanced technologies.
Minister Bettel acknowledged Kazakhstan's efforts to enhance regional security, emphasizing that both nations share common perspectives on global challenges. He expressed Luxembourg's eagerness to expand cooperation on international security and sustainable development, recognizing opportunities for joint initiatives within the UN and other international organizations aimed at promoting peace and stability.
In conclusion, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and collaborating within international organizations to address key regional and global challenges.
Meanwhile, to date, 183 companies with Luxembourg capital are registered in Kazakhstan.
