BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. To improve grain production efficiency, digital solutions are implemented annually on up to 15,000 hectares in various Azerbaijani grain districts, a source in the Center for Agricultural Innovation of the Ministry of Agriculture told Trend.

According to the source, the solutions pave the way for nailing down the perfect sowing times, using the right fertilizers, keeping a finger on the pulse of soil moisture, and hitting the sweet spot for harvest timing.

"This boosts efficiency and lowers labor, water, fertilizer, and production expenses. There are farms around the country doing this. Many grain farms use novel soil conservation technology to conserve moisture and protect the lower barren soil layers, resulting in excellent yields.

Smart agricultural methods are employed for this purpose. Specifically, the equipment used for soil treatment, seedbed preparation, sowing, fertilization, and spraying is equipped with GPS navigation systems.

"Technological and other procedures employing these strategies reduce errors. Some grain farms with such technology have yielded 55 to 60 quintals per hectare of food wheat. Wheat quality also met state norms. Up to 15,000 hectares of grain regions in the country are treated with these revolutionary methods annually," the source added.
