ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 29. A subsidiary of Kazakhstan's KazTransOil operating in Georgia's Batumi Sea Port has reported a 3.8-percent increase in dry cargo transshipment, handling 1.408 million tons from January through September 2024, up by 51,100 tons compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
The recent installation of a new gantry crane has significantly enhanced the dry cargo terminal's operational efficiency, particularly in servicing larger Handysize and Handymax vessels. This upgrade aligns with the Batumi Sea Port’s strategy to expand its handling capacity and increase its share of bulk cargo from the Batumi Oil Terminal.
As part of ongoing development efforts, Batumi Oil Terminal has launched two major investment projects aimed at expanding transshipment volumes of liquefied hydrocarbon gas and light oil products. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the port’s role as a key logistics hub in the region and boost its competitive edge.
The addition of a new 40-ton Stork-type crane at the dry cargo terminal further enhances the port’s infrastructure, supporting its long-term growth and increasing cargo turnover capabilities.
