ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 31. The Italian oil and gas company Eni intends to attract investments in various sectors of Kazakhstan's energy industry, Trend reports.
Askat Hasenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas National Company, recently met with Luca Vignati, Director of Exploration and Production at Eni.
During their discussions, they explored key areas of cooperation, including joint project implementation and opportunities for further collaboration to attract investments in Kazakhstan's energy sector. They also reviewed the current status of projects related to the expansion of the Kashagan field and the construction of a gas processing plant at the Karachaganak field, aimed at supplying commercial gas to the domestic market.
A significant focus of the meeting was the hybrid power plant
project in the Mangystau region. In July 2024, KMG and Eni began
constructing a 247 MW hybrid power plant in Zhanaozen, which will
harness solar, wind, and gas energy. KMG's subsidiaries in the
area, such as OzenMunaiGaz and KazGPD, will receive stable and
reliable electricity from this plant.
The parties also discussed potential collaboration in the design of
oil and gas fields. By the end of the meeting, they agreed to
enhance their cooperation on these key initiatives.
Eni is Italy's largest oil and gas company, headquartered in Rome. Its primary production regions include Africa, Russia, and Kazakhstan, with its main markets in Italy and other European countries. In 2023, Eni ranked 61st on the Fortune Global 500 list for revenue.
