Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov plans to visit India. The date is specified through diplomatic channels, the official Turkmen source said.

During the last governmental meeting, the President said that the development of Turkmen-Indian cooperation in the longer term will be discussed during this visit.

"The experience of this country, holding a leading position on a number of industries in the world, including high information technologies, deserves serious consideration," Berdimuhammedov said.

According to him Turkmenistan and India are united by common historical and cultural roots, originating in centuries, an unbroken tradition of sincere friendship, mutual understanding and trust.

Recently, the regular meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Indian commission for trade, economic and technological cooperation was held in Ashgabat.

The result of the event was the signing of the memorandum between the Turkmen and the Indian governments on the establishment of the Turkmen-Indian center of information technologies.
