The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) rejected the MP's comments over Ahmadinejad's call to prevent issues of economic statistics, Fars News Agency reported quoting a CBI statement.
"According to the Fifth development plan (2010-2015) approved by members of Parliament, the Statistical Center of Iran is responsible for issuing official statistics. However, should Parliament demand it, the Central Bank of Iran will issue statistics reports again", the statement said.
Conservative MP Ahmad Tavakoli recently said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ordered the Central Bank of Iran to prevent issue of statistics.
The Statistical Center of Iran appointed by Parliament to issue the unemployment rate from the last solar year (ended on March20, 2011). Parliament recently assigned a report to be issued on the country's inflation rate, but the center has still not done so.
