In September the Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company plans to select the general contractor for the modernisation of the Talimarjon TPP project for the construction of two steam-gas plants (SGP) with a capacity of 450 MW worth $1.28 billion, Uzbekenergo told Trend on Tuesday.
Last year the first stage of the tender was held. It is planned to announce the second stage of the tender in the near future the process of which should be completed by the end of September. Construction is scheduled for 2013.
Previously the construction of SGPs on the Talimarjan TPP was planned for 2011 and a completion date in 2014.
In addition to the two SGPs worth $1.28 billion, the construction of 500 kV Talimarjan - Sogdiana with outdoor switchgear 500kV at Talimarjan TPP worth $166.76 million is planned.
Project funding is provided by loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to the sum of $350 million, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - $300 million, the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan - $ 250 million and Uzbekenergo's own funds.
The construction of the 500 kV Talimarjan - Sogdiana will be financed by the World Bank credit amounting to $110 million and own funds of Uzbekenergo.
The construction of 500 kV Talimarjan - Sogdiana started in 2011 and will be completed in 2013.
