Iran announces plan to increase greenhouse production

It is planned to create and develop greenhouses on 4,600 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2019), said Habib Radfar, the Executor of Greenhouse Development Project and Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Trend reports citing ministry.

According to Radfar, 2,500 hectares of greenhouses will be commissioned.

Radfar added that 400-hectares of greenhouses will be commissioned in the first three months (March 20- June 20) of the current Iranian year.

The deputy minister said that work will be carried out on 2,100 hectares out of 4,600 hectares that are planned for operation in the current year and will be commissioned next Iranian year (to start March 21, 2021).

Radfar said that in this regard, loans will be provided with the support of the National Development Fund of Iran, banks and the government.

According to the deputy minister, the loans will be issued at 7 percent in areas with low infrastructure capacity and at 9 percent in areas with normal capacity.

So far, 7,250 hectares of greenhouses have been commissioned in Iran.

It is planned to provide 40 trillion rials (about $952 million) in loans to investors in the agricultural sector in Iran.
