Georgian Poti port slightly decreases cargo transshipment

The Georgian international Black Sea port of Poti decreased cargo transshipment to 7.163 million tons in January to December 2011 compared to 7.292 million tons transshipped in 2010, the port said to Trend via e-mail.

In this period Poti port decreased bulk cargo transshipment to 2.546 million tons and liquid cargo transshipment to 0.944 million tons compared to 2.607 million tons of bulk cargo and 1.170 million tons of liquid cargo transshipped in 2010.

Meanwhile, the port increased general cargo transshipment from 3.515 million tons in 2010 to 3.673 million tons in 2011.

Some 2.680 million tons of cargo transshipped by the port were imported by Georgia and 1.210 million tons were exported by the country. These indexes were 2.869 million tons and 1.403 million tons respectively in 2010.

Thus, 3.273 million tons of cargo transshipped by Poti port in 2011 fell on transit cargo. The port transshipped 3.020 million tons in 2010.

About 254,022 TEU of containerized cargo were transported through the seaport of Poti in 2011. This index was 209,797 TEU in 2010.
