Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline has transported 19.16 million tons of Azerbaijani oil in Jan.-Aug. 2015, or 2.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2014 (19.57 million tons), said the message posted on the website of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
Aside from Azerbaijani oil, the pipeline also transports oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
BTC transported 347,050 tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil in August 2015, according to the message.
Around 28.51 million tons of Azerbaijani oil was transported via BTC in 2014, compared to 29.7 million tons in 2013.
In total, 282.98 million tons of oil has been transported via the oil pipeline since being commissioned.
The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer-long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
