As many as 685,000 tons of paraxylene and 417,000 tons of benzene were produced at the Nouri Petrochemical Company in the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) of Bushehr province in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Taqi Sanei, the company’s managing director, Trend reports citing Shana news agency.
According to Sanei, the company's production plan has been fulfilled by 106 percent.
The official said that production volume is a record figure for the company, which is expected to increase by 10 percent in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020).
Sanei added that the production of paraxylene will reach 200 tons per day over the next 1-2 months.
The official said that raw materials (fuel) account for more than 90 percent of the company's expenditures, and discussions are underway to reduce the prices by 5 percent.
If the price is reduced by suppliers, it is possible to give discounts to customers, he added.
He went on to say that ammonia plant of Hengam petrochemical company, purchased by Nouri Petrochemical Company, will be commissioned in 2021, and the urea plant in 2022.
Sanei noted that all equipment for both plants has been, and the project progress is 79 percent at the ammonia plant and 55 percent at the urea plant.
Sixty percent of the products produced by Iran's Nouri Petrochemical Company are exported and 40% sold on the stock exchange, the managing director said.
The company products are exported to Europe, East and South Asia, the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Peninsula.
The company produces 1.2 million tons of paraxylene, benzene and orthoxylene and 3.3 million tons of heavy and light hydrocarbons, heavy aromatic, LPG, Pentan and light naphtha annually. Furthermore, it produces over 4.7 million tons of fuel per year, 4.5 million tons of which is gas condensate and is supplied from factories in the South Pars Gas Complex.
It is expected to build a heavy distillation unit at the enterprise with the investment of about $110-120 million. Commissioning of this project will contribute to production of crude low-sulfur fuel oil needed for ships.
