Local banks lend huge amounts to Iran’s trade sector in eight months

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. Local Iranian banks granted loans worth about 2.75 quadrillion rials (about $65.4 billion) in the trade sector of the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from Iran's Central Bank shows that the following loans were allocated in the trade sector:

- Working capital: 2.4 quadrillion rials (about $57.4 billion);

- Development work: around 151 trillion rials (about $3.58 billion);

- Establishment of enterprises: 142 trillion rials (about $3.38 billion);

- Purchase of housing: 25 trillion rials ($596 million);

- Purchase of personal 12.1 trillion rials ($288 million);

- Self-employment: 5.03 trillion rials (about $120 million);

- Repair work: 3.86 trillion rials ($91.9 million).

In total, the Iranian banks granted loans worth about 27.6 quadrillion rials (about $656 billion) in various economic sectors within the first 8 months of the current Iranian year.
