Azerbaijan, Baku, August 18 / Trend H. Veliyev /
The number of broadband Internet users in Azerbaijan exceeds 43,000, said an interview with the Deputy Communication and IT Minister Iltimas Mammadov, which was posted on the official website of the New Azerbaijan party.
Mammadov said that at present, the number of Aztelecom's ports of broadband communication consists of 4,744 units, and those of the Baku telephone communication production connection is 15,400 units.
An increase in the number of broadband Internet users in Azerbaijan was possible due to marketing initiatives, operators' modern methods in sale and service and the introduction of new tariff plans on the market.
The advantage of broadband access are a free telephone line, broad coverage zone, a variety of tariff plans and the opportunity to get additional services and modern telecommunication services via an ordinary telephone line.
The development of high speed access to the Internet remains a priority for Azerbaijani communication operators. Most of all providers are aiming to cover a mass segment of this market. ADSL technology is the most wide-spread Internet access service. At present, this service is rapidly developing and is planned to replace the existing Dial-up service soon.
