At least 1,000 new buses are planned to be purchased for the Shymkent city bus fleet, head of a sector of the Shymkent city Department of passenger transport and highways Nauryz Suguraliyev said Sept. 19, Kazakh media reported.
Suguraliyev noted that 47 percent of the buses running across the city have already passed their useful life.
According to the plans of the city administration, 300 new buses will appear in the city this year, and the remaining 700 units – in 2019.
The Administration of Shymkent city has already signed a relevant Memorandum with the "BRK-Leasing" company and "SaryarkaAvtoProm" LLP company from Kostanay region.
As of today, 26 transport companies are providing services along 1090 routes. It is planned to pilot the system of electronic tickets on 30 buses in the near future.
