BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 6. The amount of cargo being transported by railroad took a nosedive from January through July 2024, the data of Kyrgyzstan's National Statistics Committee said, Trend reports.
According to the information, for seven months of the current year, 4.744 million tons of cargo were transported by railway transport, which is six percent less than in the same period last year (5.048 million tons).
The volume of cargo turnover by rail transport amounted to 557.9 million ton-kilometers, which is seven percent lower than 600 million ton-kilometers from January through July last year.
To note, during the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported by all types of transport in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 28.324 million tons. Compared to the same period last year, this indicator increased by 2.1 million tons, or eight percent.
The largest volume of cargo transportation falls on road transport (23.327 million tons).
