Kyrgyzstan's industrial production grows amid diverse sectoral shifts

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 11. Kyrgyzstan's industrial output for January through August 2024 reached over 330 billion soms ($3.19 billion), marking a 0.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the data obtained by Trend via the State Statistical Committe of Kyrgyzstan, different sectors have shown varying levels of success, which is reflected in this rise.

Significant expansions were observed in several areas: refined petroleum products surged by 70 percent, wooden and paper products, along with printing activities, increased by 36.3 percent. The food and beverage sector, including tobacco products, grew by 19.6 percent, and pharmaceutical production rose by 17.9 percent.

Additionally, rubber and plastic products, as well as construction materials, saw a 10.1 percent rise, along with growth of textile and apparel manufacturing by 8.1 percent.

However, some sectors experienced declines. Basic metal production decreased by 12.9 percent, chemical products fell by 6.4 percent, and mining output dropped by 2.8 percent.

Energy production, transmission, and distribution saw a notable increase of 14.2 percent, and water collection, treatment, and distribution rose by 4.8 percent, underscoring a complex yet positive shift in Kyrgyzstan's industrial landscape.
