BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 18. Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Energy has signed power supply agreements with 22 companies in the renewable energy sector from January through September 2024, Trend reports via the ministry.
The agreements cover electricity supply from a total of 11 small hydropower plants, 9 solar power stations, and 2 wind power stations. Currently, the companies involved are actively working on the implementation of their projects.
Since the beginning of the year, the ministry noted that small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 45.9 megawatts have been commissioned. Additionally, a capsule has been laid for the construction of two small hydropower plants, one solar power station, and one wind power station. Presently, solar power stations with a combined capacity of 430 kilowatts are operational.
Efforts to enhance generating capacities are underway, with the reconstruction of generator No. 1 at Toktogul HPP and generator No. 4 at Uch-Kurgan HPP currently in progress. Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024.
Upon completion, the capacity of generator No. 1 at Toktogul HPP will increase to 60 megawatts, while generator No. 4 at Uch-Kurgan HPP will reach 9 megawatts. As of now, reconstruction of hydro unit No. 1 at Toktogul HPP is 95 percent complete, and hydro unit No. 4 at Uch-Kurgan HPP is 65 percent complete.
