DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 1. Customs officials from Russia and Tajikistan have signed an agreement to establish a simplified procedure for customs operations concerning the movement of goods and vehicles between the two countries, known as the Simplified Customs Channel, Trend reports.
The document was signed during the International Customs Forum by Valery Pikalyev, head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, and Khurshed Karimzoda, head of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan.
This agreement aims to create favorable trade conditions for individuals and entities classified as low-risk under the legislation of both countries, including authorized economic operators (AEOs). It is expected to significantly expedite the movement of goods between Russia and Tajikistan.
This year's International Customs Forum program and interactive exhibition has welcomed participation from 27 international delegations, over 1,500 representatives from federal government bodies, the business community, and entrepreneurial associations, as well as Russian and foreign experts in foreign economic activity.
Key themes for the first day included new approaches to developing international trade in the current geopolitical climate and effective measures to support businesses. In particular, during a session titled "Accelerating Cross-Border Operations: The Key to Developing New International Trade for Russia," experts discussed improving technologies for cargo clearance and developing infrastructure at priority border crossings and transport corridors within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and with Asia-Pacific countries.
