Ferrous metal imports in Tajikistan witness promising dynamics

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 4. Tajikistan imported ferrous metals worth $205.067 million from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from January through September 2024, which is 38 percent more than in the same period of 2023 ($147.737 million), Trend reports.

According to Tajikistan's Customs Service, the country imported ferrous metals worth $98.090 million from non-CIS countries, which is 24 percent more than $78.568 million in the same months of 2023.

In total, for the first three quarters of 2024, Tajikistan imported 471,001 tons of ferrous metals worth $303.157 million.

To note, Tajikistan's trade turnover for the first nine months of 2024 reached $6.387 billion, a 25 percent increase compared to $5.103 billion during the same period in 2023.

Exports amounted to $1.349 billion, which is a 45 percent increase compared to $933.1 million in January-September 2023. Imports grew by 21 percent year-on-year, from $4.17 billion to $5.037 billion in the first three quarters of 2024.

The share of exports in the country's total trade turnover accounted for 21 percent, while imports made up 79 percent.
