ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 11. The number of ATMs in Turkmenistan reached 2,141 units during the period from January to September 2024, according to data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan (CBT), Trend reports.
This marks a slight decrease of 0.19 percent compared to the beginning of the year, when there were 2,145 ATMs.
The highest number of ATMs is held by the state commercial bank "Daikhanbank," which operates 1,022 units. Following "Daikhanbank," State Commercial Bank "Turkmenistan" has 441 ATMs, while JSCB "Turkmenbashi" manages 356 units.
Regionally, the Ashgabat area has the largest concentration of ATMs, totaling 450. The Mary region has 443 ATMs, while the Lebap region hosts 434.
As the main financial institution of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank oversees the national currency issuance, monetary policy regulation, and foreign exchange control. Established in 1991, the bank plays a central role in executing the state's financial strategy, managing money supply, and ensuring payment system stability across the country.
