Iran's defense minister says the suspected death of Iranian prisoner Ali-Reza Asgari in an Israeli prison is another test for those who internationally advocate human rights, PressTV reported.
If the credibility of this report is proved, the dossier on Israel's kidnappings, assassinations and murders will become thicker, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Wednesday.
"This inhumane action is another test for the international community which advocates human rights," he added.
Asgari, a former deputy defense minister, mysteriously disappeared in Turkey in 2007. He was believed to have been abducted and transferred to Israel.
A Ynet report earlier stated that a prisoner had committed suicide in solitary confinement in Israel's Ayalon prison.
The Eurasia Review website claimed that a source within the "inner circle" of the Israeli Defense Ministry had identified the prisoner as Asgari and that his death could have been murder and not suicide.
Vahidi said Asgari's abduction by Israel's intelligence service is certain, adding that after kidnapping the Iranian national, the Israelis tried to cover up their action by spreading the rumor that he had sought asylum in a third country.
The Iranian defense minister said Iran would use all its capabilities and capacities to determine Asgari's fate.
Vahidi said that such actions only serve to create public hatred for the US and Britain, which are the main supporters of Israel.
He pointed to the abduction of four Iranian diplomats by Israel in Lebanon and said, "Undoubtedly the responsibility and consequences of such shameful crimes fall not only on the Zionist regime [of Israel] but also on their supporters, and they must be answerable for their crimes in the near future."
On July 4, 1982, four Iranian diplomats were kidnapped by militiamen and Israeli forces at an inspection point in northern Lebanon.
Israel claims that Ahmad Motevaselian, Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taghi Rastegar Moqaddam and Kazem Akhavan were abducted by the Lebanese Forces group, now headed by Samir Geagea, and were killed shortly after their abduction.
