Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the enhancement of ties between Iran and Vietnam is beneficial to both countries and it will also benefit the global peace and security, and reiterated the improvement of bilateral ties in all areas, IRNA reported.
Speaking at a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart, Truong Tan Sang, in Hanoi on Friday, the Iranian president said that "Iran and Vietnam have common stances in different regional and international issues".
"Surely, the expansion of ties between Iran and Vietnam benefits nations of the two countries and it will also benefit the global peace and security. Remembering the name of Vietnam and the nation of this country has also been accompanied with dignity and honor for Iranians,' President Ahmadinejad said.
Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, for his part, said that the Vietnamese government strongly believes that the visit of the Iranian delegation of Hanoi is a very suitable opportunity for expansion of all-out ties between the two countries.
Pointing to the fact that Iran has always been an old friend of the Vietnamese government and nation, President Truong reiterated the bilateral cooperation and strengthening the diplomatic, economic and trade relations between the two countries.
