Iran discloses volume of loans extended by its banks in trade sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Iranian banks extended loans in the trade sector worth 232 trillion rials (about $5.53 billion) in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 2024), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

The statistics indicate that last year Iran extended a loan as working capital in the trade sector worth 201 trillion rials (about $4.7 billion).

According to the statistics, during the first month, loans worth 16.8 trillion rials (about $401 million) were granted in connection with the development of enterprises in the trade sector and about 13.3 trillion rials (about $315 million) in connection with the establishment of enterprises and other opportunities.

Furthermore, statistics show that the trade sector received loans worth 891 billion rials (about $21.2 million) for renovation works and 252 billion rials (about $6 million) for self-employment.

The information notes that Iranian banks granted loans worth 31 billion rials (about $738,000) for the purchase of housing in the trade sector and 16 billion rials (about $381,000) for the procurement of personal funds during the mentioned period.

To note, Iranian banks granted loans worth 2.05 quadrillion rials (about $48.9 billion) in the first month of the current year.
