BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries (through water and land borders) increased by 6 percent in value and 5 percent in weight during four months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), the Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Iran's Customs Administration Mohammad Rezvani-Far said, Trend reports.
According to him, Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries amounted to 34.2 million tons worth $19.8 billion within four months.
Rezvani-Far noted that in the same period last year, Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries stood at 32.5 million tons worth $18.6 billion.
The official stated that Iran's exports to neighboring countries amounted to 27 million tons worth $10.6 billion over four months. Compared to the same period last year, the export of products increased by 16 percent in value and 6 percent in weight.
The deputy minister added that Iran imported 7.2 million tons of products worth about $9.18 billion from neighboring countries during the past four months. Compared to the same period last year, the import of products increased by one percent in value and decreased by four percent in weight terms.
To note, Iran's non-oil trade turnover increased to $36 billion during the first four months of the current Iranian year. Exports amounted to $17.5 billion of Iran's non-oil trade turnover during the four months. This is eight percent more than in the same period last year.
