BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. During the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024), the customs of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, located in the southeast of the country, imported most essential products, including rice, wheat, corn fodder, sesame, meat, mangoes, cloth, and car tires, according to controller Mohammad Ali Khashi, Trend reports.
He claims that over the course of seven months, Sistan and Baluchestan provincial customs imported 822,000 tons of goods worth $1.23 billion into the nation.
Khashi noted that imports of products increased by 32 percent in value and decreased by 18 percent in weight during the seven months compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023).
According to the official, China accounted for $408 million of the total imports, followed by Pakistan with $267 million, the UAE with $200 million, India with $178 million, and Russia with $82 million.
To note, Iran primarily focuses on importing necessary goods that the country needs and imposes certain restrictions on importing products manufactured within the country.
