Israel's President
Shimon Peres is to host Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his residence in
Jerusalem on Tuesday for talks on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and
other issues, the Israeli government said in a statement on Monday night.
The two would also discuss the situation in the region and the
development and implementation of joint economic initiatives for strengthening
the peace process, according to the statement.
Abbas' senior staff, including peace negotiator Saeb Erekat were also scheduled
to be present at the meeting.
Abbas and Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert have met in Jerusalem on several
occasions since formal peace negotiations resumed late last year.
