Sauber drivers Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi were disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday because their cars violated Formula One technical regulations, dpa reported.

Stewards determined in post-race scrutineering that that the shape of the Swiss team's rear wings was not according to the rules.

Sauber said they plan to appeal the decision at the world governing body FIA.

The Mexican Perez had originally finished seventh in his F1 debut and Kobayashi was eighth in the race won by world champion Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, giving Sauber 10 championship points they were subsequently stripped of again.

In the new race order, Felipe Massa of Ferrari is seventh, Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso eighth, while the Force India duo of Adrian Sutil and rookie Paul di Resta moved into the points in ninth and 10th place, respectively.
