Turkey reduces export of fruits & vegetables to Russia, Georgia (Exclusive)

In January-August 2019, Turkey reduced the export of fruits and vegetables to Russia and Georgia, a source at Turkey’s Union of Exporters of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables told Trend.

In January-August 2019, the export of fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Russia decreased by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to 455,031 tons.

“During the reporting period, Turkey exported fruits and vegetables worth $375.232 million to Russia, which is 2 percent less compared to the export results of the eight months of 2018,” the report said.

During the reporting period, the export of fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Georgia also decreased by 37 percent compared to the same period of 20148 and amounted to 67,490 tons.

“In the mentioned period, Turkey exported fruits and vegetables worth $13.062 million to Georgia, which is 59 percent less compared with the export results of the eight months of 2018,” the report noted.

In January-August 2019, Turkey's exports of fruits and vegetables decreased by 20 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 1.962 billion tons.

According to the union, during the indicated period, Turkey's income from export of fruits and vegetables decreased by 13 percent compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to $1.198 billion.

In January-August 2019, 742,336 tons of fruits were exported from Turkey, which is 5 percent less compared to the same period of 2018. In the first eight months of 2018, Turkey's income from fruit exports also decreased by 5 percent compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to $546.332 million.

According to the union, during the reported period, the export of vegetables from Turkey decreased by 20 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 621.421 million tons.

In January-August 2019, Turkey's income from exports of vegetables amounted to $395,801.

The union noted that in the first eight months of 2019, Turkey exported 598,292 tons of citrus fruits, which is 32 percent less compared to January-August 2018.

In January-August 2019, Turkey's exports of citrus fruits amounted to $256,659 in monetary terms.
