BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. Final report on AZAL plane shooting down hasn't yet been submitted, AZAL Vice President Ilham Amirov said at the presentation of a postage stamp commemorating J2-8243 flight, Trend reports.
"A commission has been established in Kazakhstan, and the investigation is still ongoing. The commission, which was formed within a year of the incident, submitted its initial report at the end of January this year. However, the full report hasn't yet been finalized," he explained.
He noted that the initial report already showed that the commission had illegally interfered with the plane while it was in the air.
"After the black box was opened, it became clear that all three of the plane's vital systems failed at once. This happened due to an external force acting on the plane."
The vice president of AZAL also said that the purpose of the event was to present a postage stamp dedicated to the memory of those who died on the J2-8243 flight, and pointed out that the postage stamp was prepared on the joint initiative of AZAL and Azerpost.
"I have been a pilot for 40 years. After this incident, I have put myself in the shoes of that crew a hundred times. How did they control the plane in that condition? I still cannot find an answer to this. Even the factories that manufactured the plane are surprised by this," Amirov emphasized.
