The ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan Party (New Azerbaijan Party) considers the statements of some opposition representatives about violations in a referendum on amendments to the Azerbaijani Constitution as ungrounded, Ali Ahmedov, deputy chairman, executive secretary of the party, said at the press conference on March 18.

Azerbaijan has held a referendum to amend 29 Articles of the Constitution under initiative of New Azerbaijan party on March 18.

"Insignificant number of supervisors from opposition parties demonstrates that they failed to cover voting process completely," he said.

The press-release of agitation groups Movement for Karabakh and Republic and Republicans with some opposition parties says that some violations have been fixed during voting.

Number of supervisors from opposition was rather low that one person was registered at some electoral districts at once, Ahmedov said.

The Constitution was adopted in 1995. Amendments and additions were made in 2002.
