On April 14, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev received the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Movlud Chavushoglu, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
The President congratulated Movlud Chavushoglu on his election as the President of PACE. Assessing the election of Turkey's representative as the president of this organization as a fair decision, President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that over the period of Movlud Chavushoglu's leadership, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will successfully fulfill its tasks. At the same time, the head of state highly appreciated the fact that as the chairman of the PACE, Movlud Chavushoglu paid one of his first visits to Azerbaijan and expressed his confidence that this visit will contribute to enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Parliamentary Assembly.
In his turn, Movlud Chavushoglu expressed gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan's support to elect him the chairman of PACE. He stressed that for many years they have successfully cooperated with the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation to PACE.
At the meeting were exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and PACE.
