BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Azerbaijan bought 211,966 tons of wheat from January through March 2024, which is 40.48 percent (144,1800 tons) less than in the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, wheat imports exceeded $48 million in value terms (a decrease of 55.8 percent over the year, or $48 million).
The share of wheat imports in the reporting period amounted to 1.3 percent of Azerbaijan's total imports.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani food imports climbed by 0.36 percent ($2 million) in value between January and March 2024, totaling $585.1 million.
To note, Azerbaijan imported 1,175 million tons of wheat in 2023, down 9.1 percent (117,655 tons) from 2022.
