ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 12. As part of the spring fieldwork in 2025, it is planned to sow agricultural crops on an area of 23.8 million hectares, which is 518,000 ha more than last year, said Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, at a government meeting, Trend reports.
Saparov noted that the implementation of the Roadmap for diversifying sown areas will also continue. The program will cover about 1 million ha, focusing on highly profitable crops, including an increase in oilseed crops by 365,000 hectares.
''Reducing dependence on wheat remains an important step. Over the past two years, the area planted to wheat has decreased by almost 730,000 ha. The main focus is on oilseeds and legumes, which are in high demand in the market, with flax and rapeseed prices reaching 200,000 tenge ($400) per ton, he emphasized.
"This will not only improve the profitability of agribusiness but also enhance the crop structure, ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture," noted the Minister of Agriculture.
In addition, the government meeting discussed early financing of fieldwork in 2025 in Kazakhstan, including new channels of lending through social-entrepreneurial corporations.
