BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Azerbaijan brought in nuclear reactors, boilers, equipment, mechanical devices, and their parts, racking up a bill of around $2.1 billion in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this figure represents an increase of $244.6 million, or 12.8 percent, compared to 2023.
The procurement of nuclear reactors, boilers, apparatus, and mechanical systems constituted 10.24 percent of the national import portfolio during the specified timeframe.
Azerbaijan conducted trade operations with 180 foreign countries for the amount of $47.6 billion in 2024. This is $3.6 billion, or 7 percent less than in 2023. Exports accounted for $26.5 billion of foreign trade turnover, while imports accounted for $2.6 billion.
To note, over the last year, exports decreased by $7.3 billion, or 21.7 percent, while imports increased by $3.8 billion, or 21.8 percent. This resulted in a foreign trade surplus of $5.5 billion, which is 3 times less year-on-year.
