ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 20. Dragon Oil has implemented a "Zero Waste Discharge" program to safeguard the Caspian Sea ecosystem during offshore field development, the company's CEO Ali Rashid Al-Jarwan said, Trend reports.
"All industrial and domestic waste from offshore platforms is collected in designated containers and transported to a dedicated landfill. Continuous environmental monitoring is conducted on the platforms, including regular well sampling to detect potential pollutants, as well as fresh and wastewater analysis," he added.
The company has also taken measures to respond to potential emergencies. To ensure a swift reaction to oil spills, it has acquired modern equipment to remove contaminants from both the water surface and coastal areas.
Dragon Oil, founded in 1970 in Turkmenistan, is engaged in oil production in the Caspian Sea. Owned by the Dubai government, the company aims to double its daily production to 450,000 barrels within five years. Its revenue will reach about $1.3 billion in 2023.
