BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. A total of 202,100 taxpayers accumulated a tax debt of 5.5 billion manat ($3.27 billion) in Azerbaijan last year, Trend reports via the activity report of the country's Cabinet of Ministers for 2024.
The report said that as a result of the measures taken, the tax debts of 189,500 taxpayers, amounting to 5.2 billion manat ($3.07 billion), were canceled.
During the reporting period, to inform delinquent taxpayers about the composition of their debt and the administrative actions to be taken if the debt was not paid, a total of 1.3 million official notices were sent to them, 561,800 text messages were sent to mobile phone numbers, and 208,600 phone calls were made.
To ensure the collection of the debt into the state budget, a total of six million directives were sent to the active bank accounts of delinquent taxpayers, and the travel rights of 7,000 individuals were temporarily restricted.
An enormous 12,000 decisions were made to inventory the assets of delinquent taxpayers, and 5,100 decisions were made to enforce the collection of debts under the provisions of Article 82 of the "Administrative Procedure Law" of Azerbaijan. Additionally, materials constituting a criminal offense regarding 643 taxpayers were sent to the relevant investigative authority.
