BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Products worth 9.2 billion manat ($5.4 billion) were sold to consumers in the retail trade network in Azerbaijan from January through February of this year.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that individual entrepreneurs transacted merchandise totaling 4.4 billion manat ($2.59 billion) within the retail distribution framework, reflecting an increase of 245 million manat ($143 million) or 5.8 percent relative to the corresponding timeframe of the previous year (4.2 billion manat or $2.5 billion).
To note, throughout the designated reporting interval, a substantial 50 percent of consumer expenditure within the retail trade ecosystem was allocated to food commodities, while 4.8 percent was directed towards beverages and tobacco merchandise. Additionally, 15.1 percent of the outlay was attributed to textiles, apparel, and footwear, with 5.7 percent earmarked for automotive fuel, encompassing both gasoline and diesel. Electrical appliances and furniture captured 4.6 percent of the financial outflow, whereas pharmaceutical items and medical supplies accounted for 2.5 percent. A mere 1.3 percent was invested in computers, telecommunications apparatus, and printing solutions, culminating in 16 percent for miscellaneous non-food products.
