ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 7. Kazakhstan ranked second in the import of live animals from Russia, Trend reports via the Federal Center for the Development of Agricultural Export Products of Russia.
In 2024, Russia set a historic record for live animal exports—22 percent more than in 2023. Kazakhstan played a significant role in this achievement, becoming the second-largest importer of Russian live animals, accounting for 21 percent of the total export volume.
"According to preliminary expert estimates, in 2024, Russia exported more than 83,000 tons of live animals. Compared to 2023, exports increased by 22 percent. The export volume reached a historic high. Live animals include pigs, cattle, horses, goats, poultry, and other species," the statement said.
The top 3 importing countries by volume in 2024 were 1st place — Georgia (34 percent) 2nd place — Kazakhstan (21 percent) 3rd place — Azerbaijan (18 percent).
